Book Review: The Whispering House by Marci Baun

After her mother’s death, Eleanor Radcliffe retires from her job in San Jose and escapes to a cozy house outside of Fresno to heal. But her new home hides a secret. A secret that could claim her life. When strange, frightening things start to happen, she turns to her mysterious neighbor Michael Stevens and the handsome sheriff Rodney Tyler for help.

As the incidents grow more bizarre and violent, she is forced to flee. Long-suppressed powers resurface. When she accidentally travels the ley lines, her world is turned upside down.

With her world spinning out of control, Eleanor will have to face her deepest fears and learn to use her powers if she’s going to survive.

This speculative fiction book races across time and space, mixing horror, soft science fiction with multidimensional travel, and a hot love story.

The Whispering House By Marci Baun follows the story of Eleanor as she grieves the loss of her mother. Leaving her job and home behind, she moves to an isolated house just outside of Fresno in hope of a quiet and cosy healing period. But, the house has different ideas as we learn about a dark secret that lies within. Eleanor's past reveals a dark secret: There are monsters in the world, monsters who will stop at nothing to make sure they get what they want, and Eleanor is the only one who can stop them.

At first, I thought this was going to be a simple ghost story, but it's anything but. The Whispering House combines many genres together in a unique and interesting blend. It is incredibly well written and developed. The characters are wonderful and unique, and the setting comes alive with Baun's words. The Whispering House caught my attention from the very beginning. I will definitely be reading more of Baun's work.

The Whispering House takes you on a journey to new worlds, with new monsters, and sexy neighbours. A story about finding peace and forgiveness, The Whispering House is an intriguing read that is sure to thrill and terrify readers, leaving them wanting more. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a new adventure.
