Welcome - Part One
Welcome to my blog!
Wow, this is exciting (and terrifying). So, I started this blog because I feel it is important to share my thoughts and progress with you all (if I manage to build an audience and get new readers along the way then great), so, that is exactly what you are going to get here.
This blog will have two categories: The Writing Room will be where I share everything concerning my writing and my own books. The Reading Room will be where I share book recommendations and book reviews.
I will try and be as active as I can and post regularly (if my RL allows me too, of course). Right now I will be posting once a week (twice a week while I get introductions out of the way). it doesn't seem like enough, I know, but until I get the hang of this blog thing, please be patient with me, I am a newbie at sharing.
Since this is my first ever blog post (eek!), and some of you may not know who I am, let me officially introduce myself:
My name is Sarah Jayne Harry and I am an indie author.
That's me below. Random fact: I hate having my photo taken. I hardly have any photos of myself, unless it's a really, really good one.
Anyway, I have two books out so far with many more planned. So far I have written books in the following genres:
• paranormal romance
With more books planned that will be mostly romance.
On a more personal note, I have just turned 26 years old (I'm a January baby), and I am originally from Birkenhead - a little place over the river from Liverpool - but I moved to Portsmouth in 2014 with my mum to get a fresh new start in life, and I couldn't be any happier. Oh, and I LOVE cats, unfortunately I had to rehome my three beauties when I moved down south *sad face*
I only started writing a couple of years ago (back in 2018), and I will admit that I haven't had much experience writing before that point. I never really thought of myself as a writer before. I mean, I had done some writing while I was in college. During most of my English classes I had to write poems and short stories. I studied Animal Management in college so most of them were about animals. Back then I found writing them boring and unnecessary (it was homework afterall), but now? I find myself wanting to go back to them, make them better. If only I had kept them after I left (sigh!). Who knows, maybe I will write a collection of poems one day.
It was only when my boyfriend had jokingly said to me 'have you ever thought about writing your own book?'' Now, naturally I had laughed hysterically at that. I love to read (I have over 300 books on my kindle, and more get added everyday) but I never thought I was good enough to write anything professionally.
Then I really started to think about. Could I write my own book? I started to think of ideas of what I could write about. I couldn't think of anything, so I got my laptop out and stared at that blank page, my fingers hovered over the keys. Words started to come and soon enough I had the first draft of my first book, Immortal Billionaire. That was the most terrifying moment of my life.
I love writing now. I am a huge introvert and I find it is much better than being social. I am still just as nervous about sharing my work. I have a ton of ideas for future books and look forward to sharing them all with you.
What do I want to get out of this blog?
Like everybody else, the main reason I created this blog was to get my books noticed and to gain new readers. Like I said at the start, I also want to share my writing progress and my book news.
A new thing I will be doing, and I hope it goes well, is sharing my book recommendations (the books I love and think you should read too), and I will also be posting some book reviews too. I am definitely not one to dig deep and post a long review about plot, structure, and other things that most authors/reviewers talk about. My reviews will be about why I liked the book and my thoughts on the story and characters.
So there you have it, this blog won't just help me get noticed, but it will also help fellow authors and writers too. It's a win win.
You have reached the end!
So, what did you think? How did I do for my first post? I hope I answered any questions you may, or may not, have, if not leave a comment and I'll get back to you.
In my next few posts I will talk more about myself and each of the two rooms that you can find on this blog and what you will find in them.
Thank you for reading. If you want to stay up to date with my posts, don't forget to subscribe and you will
start receiving emails when something new is posted (I promise not to spam). Feel free to share this post on your social media, tell your friends, or just hit the like and comment.
Until next time.
